The photos used in this piece is of Ladybower reservoir. But as Tribune itself has pointed out (news to me!), that's actually part of Severn Trent Water, not Yorkshire Water. It would be more appropriate to illustrate with actual Yorkshire Water reservoirs.

Sorry Perry. You’re quite right but the pictures of Ladybower were just so much more dramatic than any others I could find!

It is more dramatic indeed. But you wouldn't want Sheffield Tribune to be associated with over dramatisation over accurate representation right? 😁

The situation in Wales is slightly different to England. Whilst private, Welsh Water is a 'not for profit' company with all profits reinvested in the business. Wales has much lower leakage rates and far less sewage discharges the England.

It's when I read of foreign ownership of water companies, and officers of companies holding other appointments that I start to think: "This is getting silly." Also, being told that water polluted with sewage is 95% rainwater, so we must use our own judgment about immersing ourselves in it, doesn't exactly fill me with joyful confidence.

A more forensic analysis of Yokshire Water would be welcome along the lines of the recent Times article. Did not cross-reference with a recent Tribune article locating reservoirs. Also the ex-MP for Stocksbridge and Penistone exercised a very light touch as chair of the relevant Commons Committee. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/water-companies-pay-1bn-dividends-as-the-taps-run-dry-xvqwcdlmm
