Probably your best piece yet on Castlegate in summing up on the current situation which I find profoundly depressing though far from unexpected bearing in mind Sheffield City Councils lamentable record regarding the remains and site of Sheffield Castle. Thanks are due to you and David Walsh in the Star for providing me space to voice -independently of any groups - the concerns of people regarding the almost total downgrading of the specific heritage aspects and importance of the site in virtually everything I have seen that the Council have put out to the public.I find the in situ and local arrangements in respect of face to face facilities for what is after all a PUBLIC consultation inappropriate. My views are my own and I will continue to make them-some of them reflect the views of other individuals who for reasons of their own feel constrained/reluctant to make them public. I would urge everyone concerned about the future of the site and its heritage and incomplete archaelogy make their comments felt.

I read Elaine's comments in The Star with considerable interest and sympathy-good to see her also migrating to the Tribune.More please.

The council are putting a good many green spaces in the city centre. This is great but I hope these will be maintained to a better standard than many other green spaces in the wider city.
