Beautifully done Dan. My dad died of dementia a few years ago and even when it got bad, Wednesday and music were always the two things he could talk about, thats how deep it runs.

Fantastic piece of journalism, the excitement was palpable reading the piece and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! I too am a blades fan, but want Wednesday to do well. Two teams up there again, come on!

I went on Thursday looking for a display to give me back some of the pride in my club that I lost when we lost 4-0 in the first leg. What I got was probably my greatest ever night at Hillsborough in nearly half a century of watching the Owls. Not since Wembley in 1993 have I been hugged by so many complete strangers. If you don't follow a team through the bad times as well as the good you won't understand it. It's tribal. It's raw. It's amazing. It only happens on rare occasions. But when it does. Oh boy. Oh Boy.

A great read - and I’m a Blade. Good luck at Wembley!

A fantastic piece slightly overtaken by events of a miraculous kind !

What a great article, captures the joy (and the extreme pain) of being a Wednesdayite perfectly! On to Wembley with renewed hope and an intense fear of being caught naked on the biggest stage again…

So glad you covered that. Such a big deal for so many people. I wish I'd gone.

Great read! I went to uni in Sheffield from 1999 - 2002. Wednesday were in the Premier League for my first year in the city, whereas United were the league below. I worked at a Blades pub in my second year so my loyalty sits slightly more with them, but I have a soft spot for a Wednesday too. This match was insane, and the footage from the dressing room afterwards was full on Ted Lasso-esque heart warming stuff. All my digits crossed for them at Wembley.

Good piece -wish I still had the bond with Wednesday that I had prior to 1966 but which chained me like Promthesus from then on but sadly eroded at Scunthorpe Utd in 2010-memories eh? Some great images also.Nice to see Supertram in use-you should have tried the New Barrack Tavern by the way.
